New Mission: Impossible 8 images reveal Nick Offerman (Parks and Rec) and Janet McTeer (Ozark) have joined the cast opposite Tom Cruise.

New Mission: Impossible 8 images reveal Nick Offerman's casting for the Tom Cruise sequel, along with Janet McTeer's. The Mission: Impossible franchise is barreling towards its likely conclusion, as Paramount announced two more movies from writer/director Christopher McQuarrie after Mission: Impossible - Fallout's success. The upcoming sequels will once again see Tom Cruise star as Ethan Hunt, while Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Vanessa Kirby are a few of the familiar faces returning to the franchise.

Story details about Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One are still mostly unknown, but it is confirmed to set up the eighth entry in the franchise. Esai Morales is playing a mysterious villain, while Hayley Atwell has joined the franchise in a new role. Some of the other new additions in Mission: Impossible 7 & 8's cast include Pom Klementieff, Cary Elwes, Charles Parnell, Shea Whigham, Rob Delaney, and Indira Varma. Most of these performers were featured in the first Mission: Impossible 7 trailer. However, it seems a few other cast members were kept under wraps.

In a new post from director McQuarrie on Twitter, he confirms two more casting decisions for Mission: Impossible 8. The first image confirms that former Parks and Recreation star Offerman has joined the franchise. He appears to be a military character named Sydney, as he is pictured with Kittridge (Henry Czerny) and Holt McCallany's Secretary of Defense Bernstein. The second Mission: Impossible 8 image confirms Jessica Jones and Ozark star McTeer has also joined the cast.

These new casting announcements for Mission: Impossible 8 give the sequel two more incredibly talented performers to round out its ensemble cast. Offerman might be best known for his comedic work and a stellar mustache, but his clean-shaven, serious look indicates that this could be a bit more of a dramatic turn for him. Those familiar with McTeer's Helen Pierce in Ozark know that she can be a formidable and terrifying villain. Her role with the government will likely see her oppose Ethan Hunt and IMF.

Even though Mission: Impossible 8 is still nearly two years away, seeing Offerman and McTeer's involvement will only continue to increase excitement. McQuarrie is assembling a massive collection of talented performers to bring his story to life. It's unlikely that Offerman or McTeer will take part in Mission: Impossible 8's wild stunts, but their roles should still be important nonetheless. Furthermore, it gives audiences a few more teases of the movie without revealing anything too specific as the wait for Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One continues.
